BILL CHERRY'S GREATEST DALLAS PARK CITIES REAL ESTATE BLOG: THE CHARLES SCHULTZ PHILOSOPHY

THE CHARLES SCHULTZ PHILOSOPHY

My lifelong school chum, Elaine Mitrovich, and I often discuss with gratitude that we were molded to be as we are.  Elaine sent this to me this evening.  I want to share it with you.

It's the second part that says it all....

CHARLES SCHULTZ PHILOSOPHY

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read the e-mail straight through, and you'll get the point.

 1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
 2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
 3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America.
 4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
 5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.
 6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

HOW DID YOU DO?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish.. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

HERE'S THE IMPORTANT QUIZ.  SEE HOW YOU DO ON THIS ONE.

 1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
 2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
 3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
 4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
 5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with
.

 EASIER?

THE LESSON:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." (Charles Schultz)

Melissa, Tony and Cindy--

Thanks so much for your thoughts on this particular blog.

When I got to the part about remembering teachers, I almost got tears in my eyes.  I was in school for "next to ever" and I had wonderful teachers from kindergarten (Mrs. Booher) to my graduate school advisor, (Dr. Ralph Eberly.)  And I'll bet I can name at least 80% of them without missing a beat.

And friend?  I've written blogs about my lifelong friends and how we stick together through thick and thin and always have.

Mr. Schultz was totally right.

Does it get any more relevent than Peanuts?  I think we all have at least one character that we can relate to...and isn't that the point?  Me? As strange as it may sound, I think I am a cross between Lucy and Linus...don't ask why, it's a gut feeling!

Anyway, I love your "test" because it really does make you realize what is important! Thanks, Bill for the reminder!

Very, very nice post, that really makes a point. And I like the "already tomorrow" quote, I'll have to remember that one.
