Probably like you, I get a serious number of unsolicited emails everyday, There's one guy who wants to give me a referal fee for recommending him as a mover. I don't recommend anyone that gives a referal fee. I hear from him about three days a week because like most, he's apparently bought the Dallas Realtors' email addresses.
There are those who are promoting yard maintenance, maid services, photographers, and on and on, along with any number who want to sell me their secret method of getting more listings.
I got this email today. This is the first one I believe I've ever gotten that I'm actually going to keep for future reference. For me, it's the perfectly framed soliciation:
Because I can really ROLL!
Hi, Walter Besst here, your Dallas area House Painter!
Its true, I really can ROLL, as well as brush, texture, caulk, prime, stain, varnish, effect repairs, and anything else a good House Painter does, and I am quick, efficient, and neat!
I also know that in this day and age we need things done more efficiently than ever before, which is why I am ready to come out and bid a job at a moments notice. I also have my references ready, and can deliver a good price immediately.
After expediting the proposal, I can get right to work, and will have ROLLED through the job on schedule!
Give me a call today at (469) 358-8405, or reply to this email, and I will get back to you FAST!
Have a great day, Walter Besst

That's a pretty nice approach. But I have to wonder how come he is so avaiable. Large crew or no business. Worth checking out though.
Although he is probably not the only one that ROLLS he makes it a point to let you know he does. All the real estate "guru's' tell us we need a Unique Selling Proposition. I'm sure if he puts his message in front of enough people he will increase his business. The only thing I would recommend that he might point out in a nice way that his competitors are only spraying paint and his method is the better of the two.
Bill, I agree. It's a well written email and deserves some referrals. Thanks.
Bill I am Creating a new email campaign can I send you the first one when it is done to see what you think? I do like this post and the solicitation .
Bill ~ I know a few painters who might like to roll with that email :)
Bill this is so good because it is written with you, the consumer in mind. It is answering your questions about painting without you even asking. He is being clever (so he must be a good painter) with his copy to keep you interested. You are right this is a very nicely shaped promo piece and one we should think of when we send out our next mailer, right?
Hi Bill... I don't have much need for painters, but I have added his number to my list of painters. Such a well framed appraoch deserves a chance in my book!
Charlie --
You know I'm always interested in anything you're doing. I'd love to see your email copy. Not sure I am worthy of offering any comments, but I'll sure give it a try.
The rest of you guys AND Melinda: Thanks for your additions. You made the post better.
Hi Bill!

I love the fact that he got right to the point...no BS...and told you what he does, how he does it, when he can do it ... period. I like this guy!
He could add this line to his signature during the start of the baseball season:
"No runs, No drips...No errors"
