If you or one of your friends or relatives have unreported damages to your property, whether by Hurricane Harvey or any other reason, you must file that claim BY THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST, to avoid a new law that goes into affect then, and which severely restricts plaintiffs' ability to quickly receive insurance relief on the Homeowners Policies.
Starting Sept. 1, Homeowners Policies many lawyers, consumer advocates and others who have studied the Bill claim that homeowners' ability to hold their insurance underwriters accountable for settling claims, can easily take monts to pay. It is just as likely that claims will be underpaid or that the underwriters will deny legitimate claims altogether.
If you'll click on Homeowners Policies, above, you can read the legislation.
The bottom line is that if you or any of your friends or relatives have damage from Hurricane Harvey, notice of claim needs to be sent to your insurance agent before September 1st. You just need to say you have a damage claim.
